My ideal D&D Campaign is a melange of Boorman's Excalibur, Bob Asprin's Thieves World Anthology, with a bit of Tolkien & Tad Williams thrown in, all Illustrated by Walter Velez & Ken Kelly.

I was fortunate enough to play in a game that was close enough to that ideal for several years, but as everyone knows, people get old, married, relocate for work, die, etc.
I've done at least 3 of those things myself.
So it goes.
